  • I used 'Xp-Like' about the same year it came out and was thrilled with it. Later I gave that computer to a family that needed it. They thought it was Windows XP until I told them what it was Linux. They were thrilled with it (and the computer) and asked if I could put more games and stuff on it, and also said, "they couldn't afford XP anyway.". I downloaded it for gags before Xmas a few weeks ago, knowing it wasn't supported anymore by Ubuntu, just to reminisce over how THRILLED I was when it first came out. I stated fiddling around with it after searching the INTERNET about using old Ubuntu repositories so that, just maybe, I could add a few things to it... -I about fell off my chair when I got it to work!!! -Runs sweet, with the extra stuff, and looks EXACTLY like the "XP" (-200 dollars.) that I cut my teeth on! This would be great for Senior Centers; Old Folks; Community Centers, and just plain average "Poor Folks" like me, who are strapped for cash, and can only afford blank DVD's and Linux (downloaded at the local library). A lot of us only have computers that were "Second-Hand", or "Hand-Me-Downs". It's SO sweet to have XP again, especially after Mr. Gates kicked us to the curb (after they shook us down all those years!) -It's like a thumb in their eye, after they 'rolled' us for all they could get, but will NOT support our machines anymore... because there isn't anything in it for them now. -'Everything old is new again...'
